Sports Day 2012

It was a big day for the tiny tots of Wesley Methodist Kindergarten who put on their best show that made their parents and teachers proud.  The Bi-annual Sports Day which was held on the 27th April 2012 from 9am to 11:30am.

Since two months ago, children have been practising at the MBS Secondary School field.  Elyse was overjoyed whenever she could run in the field rather than sitting in the class.  As a result, Elyse is becoming quite tanned.

At last, the Day arrived.  We thank God that it was a sunny morning.  Excitement filled the air as the children and parents waiting patiently at their tents.  All the children were so well groomed in their sports attire - yellow caps, white T-shirts and a yellow track bottoms - it was a sight to watch and admire.

The children were so focused and followed every instructions very well.  As the music began, each team marched in and lined up in their designated place.  Once the children stood quietly, they began to sing our national anthem 'NegaraKu' and the School's Song.  Andrew was invited to say the Opening Prayer, followed by the Welcoming Speech by Mrs Karen Loh, the Chairman of the Kindergarten Committee.

When the children finally got underway after the completion of the 'Warm Up Song', parents, teachers and classmates cheered the young ones to victory.

Altogether there was 13 events, with the last 2 being the Parents Event.  Every child participated in at least 2 events.  To name a few: Step by Step, Hula Worms, The Perfect Balance, Aim and Throw, Flying Ropes and etc.

The highlight of the event was the Tug Of War, but Elyse's class was not involved.

It was a fun time for the kids and their parents.  Flashing lights and clicking sound were all over the place.  Parents eagerly captured down those precious moment with the digital cameras, video recorder, handphones and even ipad!

The games and sports lasted about 2 hours.  Then came the most interesting moment of the function - the moment of appreciating the winners by awarding them with trophies.  This was indeed the ultimate moment of pleasure for all the children when, amidst loud clapping and shouting of cheers, they get their rewards for their hard work - from Mrs Karen Loh.

The day was full of fun, cheers, exciting games, and great exhibition of sportsmanship qualities by young WMK students. A big Thank You to all the teachers, helpers and everyone who has contributed to see this event carried out successfully.
