Sick Bug

Since February, the sick bug has invaded the Lim Family.  Everyone in the family takes turn to fall sick. 

It started with Mummy having sore throat then running nose.  She did not see doctor though, just drank lots and lots of water.  At the same time, Ah Gong was not well also.  He was down with flu but he is healthy again after a few days of rest.

Then, Mummy accidentally sprained her ankle while carrying me one morning.  Her ankle was swollen but she felt that it was not necessary to see a doctor for such minor injury.  It took her almost a month to recover fully.  Poor Mummy, although she was wounded she had to cook, clean and took care of us all.  But I was a good girl.  I did not ask Mummy to carry me at all for that one whole month.  Not until I caught the flu virus.

I have been a healthy girl for the past 9 months.  Mummy and Daddy are so proud of me.  This round, I was having fever, running nose and cough.  Mummy and Ah Gong brought me to the doctor.  I refused to take the medicine and Mummy managed to force it down my throat (with lots of struggles in between).  I was typically lying on the bed for one and a half day, sleeping most of the time.  As a result, I was absent from kindergarten for 4 days (that I'm happy). 

Soon after that, Erwyn fell sick.  Mummy said my virus was very strong.  It 'jumped' over and made Erwyn sick.  Naughty virus.  It also attacked Aunty Audrey who was still with us then.  This is the first time Erwyn falls sick.  Initially he has no problem taking the medicine.  But soon when he realised the awful taste of the medicine, he refused to drink them anymore.  Mummy and Poh Poh had a hard time feeding him medicine.  I think Erwyn learns that from me.  heheee....

Just when we all thought it is over, I fell sick again.  Sigh.  I was coughing badly, both day and night.  It distrubed my sleep and I kept waking up crying.  Hence, Mummy and Daddy hardly have any good rest.  Once again, I was brought to visit my pediatrician.  He forbidded me from eating ice-cream, chocolate (my favourite!!!), and any cold drinks for 2 weeks. 

Although I was sick, Mummy, Poh Poh, Erwyn and I went back to JB for 5 days.  This was the first time Mummy drove back to JB by herself.  We could not cancel the trip because Er Yi has booked the hotel room in Festive Hotel in Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore for 3 days 2 nights.  Er Yi was very concerned of my cough and finally suggested to bring me to see her children's pediatrician at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore for another check up.  I was given 4 types of medicine to relief me from my cough.  Cost: S$120.

When we came back from JB, my cough was getting better but Erwyn seemed to be getting a bit restless, fussy and irritable.  He refused to drink milk and eat porridge.  Shortly after that, he had fever.  Daddy and Mummy brought him to see the doctor this time.  Apparently he had 2 big ulcers in his mouth.  Doctor suggested to give him ice cream, cold milk (not room temperature, but ice cold milk!) and cold mee sua.  He was prescribed paracetamol to ease his pain.

By now, Daddy and Mummy were extremely exhausted.  This "sick bug" does not seem to end, huh?!!  Think this is the end of it?  Sorry, you are wrong!  Few days after that, I showed the same symptoms.  For the first time in history, I told Mummy, "I have sore throat."  But Mummy knows it better.  I was given paracetamol.  And ice cream becomes my main food. 

Whose turn now?  Back to Mummy again.  All of the sudden, there were rashes all over Mummy's face, hands and legs.  It was extremely itchy.  After 'tahan-ing' for a week, finally Mummy consulted the dermatologist.  The cream and the medicine are very effective although they are very costly.  The bill is RM150 for consultation and medicine.  However, we could not find out the root cause for this rashes.  Is it environmental or food intake or... etc.  After taking medicine for 2 days, Mummy stopped.  But a week later, the rash came back.  The risk remains unless and until we find out what is it that Mummy is allergic to.

The final round goes to Daddy, the tough guy and the head of the household.  He, too, was sick for a few days due to the ulcers.  But that 'bug' came from Erwyn, not me!  hahaaa...
