Day Three:
We were
supposed to go for a city tour the next day arranged by the tour agency. After discussing with hubby, we decided to stay put at the hotel to rest. I
kept persuading hubby to join the free Dim Sum breakfast (he’s a big fan of Dim
Sum) but he was very reluctant. Finally,
all four of us tucked under our cozy blanket the whole morning.
It’s almost
lunch time. We dressed up, ready to go
for food hunting. I was glad to have
stayed back so that Erwyn can get some proper rest. After all, tomorrow was going to be another
busy day. Guess what’s for lunch? McDonald!!! Lol… We thought the kids should
get a treat but we realised McDonald in Hong Kong doesn’t sell fried chicken
which is my children’s favourite?!! Hmm…
Next, we
headed to the Science Museum under the rain.
It is highly recommended in TripAdviser as one of the places to go for
children. Since it was a Wednesday,
hence it’s FOC. Besides, there was a
special exhibition on dinosaur. Elyse is
very into dinosaurs. She loves to watch
Land Before Time. As for Erwyn, he was
in his dreamland throughout the exhibition.
We bought another umbrella on our way to the Science Museum. Even so, our pants were all wet after the
long walk.
We went
back to our hotel subsequently. Our arms
and feet were practically not ours anymore.
Andrew and I took turns to carry Erwyn.
That was the moment I’m thankful that he ain’t that chubby. After washing up, it’s almost time for
dinner. Here we go again… out of the hotel
looking for food. We simply stopped by
one of the café along the street to taste some local delights. The rain had stopped by now. We walked around the street enjoying the cool
air while I, finally, did some shopping.
However, nothing caught my attention (I am quite a fussy shopper: only purchase things which are value for money) so I went back to the hotel
empty-handed. On the contrary, hubby
bought a few packets of local biscuits.
Now you know who is the shopping ‘queen’, or ‘king’.
Day Four:
Another busy day as we'd be heading to Ocean Park today. Ocean Park is huge compared to Disneyland. But the rides are catered more for the teenagers than young kids. So when Elyse found something that she enjoyed, she sat it over and over again. One of her favourite rides is Artic Blast roller coaster. She was a bit hesitant initially to try this out. But we assured her it was quite mild and she totally enjoyed the thrill. Daddy accompanied her while I waited for them at one of the benches with the fast asleep Erwyn.
It was another wet day so raincoat, umbrella and looking for shelter were part and parcel of our itinerary. Unlike Legoland in Malaysia, many of the rides still went on as usual even with the rain.
Ocean Park is separated by a mountain into two ares, The Summit and The Waterfront. We rode the Cable Car up to The Summit. The unprecedented view of the surrounding area, the sea and the entire park, is simply breath-taking! But if you have acrophobia (fear of height), it may not be recommended.
On our way back, we took the Ocean Express back to The Waterfront.

The indoor Grand Aquarium was our final stop. It is quite similar to the S.E.A Aquarium at Resorts World Sentosa but I prefer S.E.A Aquarium anytime. Till now, I'm still awed by the panoramic view of the Open Ocean.
I was again taken aback by the rudenss of the tourist at the Touch Pool. Elyse was queuing up for her turn to touch the star fish and all, then a few elderly women just stepped in right in front of her.
We left the park at around 6pm as that was the time scheduled to pick us up by the tour agency. Hence, we missed Symbio - Ocean Park's signature night show performed every day 8pm at the Aqua City Lagoon. The beautiful circular fountain of the lagoon becomes a projection screen for this sensational show. Water, fire, laser beams, music, fireworks, on a 360 degree waterscreen ...and fierce dragons on an action-packed story.. (information taken from http://www.hong-kong-traveller.com)
Day Five:
Our final
day welcomed us with a beautiful sunny morning.
At last, Mr Sun was back in town!
Oh my oh my, where have you been the past few days? We’ve decided to give ourselves a treat to
the buffet breakfast in the hotel. Our
Hong Kong dollars still have plenty left since the lady of the house did not
make any purchases for herself. How
ridiculous is that? I remembered years
ago the Hong Kong Tourism advertised Hong Kong as a place of 买东西,吃东西, 买东西,吃东西 (buy things, eat food, buy things,
eat food – direct translation). So far, the only purchases I made was a shirt
for my nephew at Disneyland (as requested by my sis), and a few packets of
biscuits (hubby’s favourite). Finally, we
bought two toys for our kids. What a
bonus!!! Trust me, those toys are very
expensive. If it wasn’t because of our
bad experience here for the past few days and we’ve decided not to come back
again; well, at least not for the near future, we would not spend that kind of
money for a toy. As a result, I didn’t even
have enough cash to buy a Hong Kong icon fridge magnet to add to my
collection. aiks…
As the
plane touched down, we were so relieved to be back home. But not with the heat and humidity. At least now I can strike off one of my Lifelist
(something like a bucket list, perhaps I will blog about this next time) that I
have been to Hong Kong Disneyland – my childhood dreamland.
It may not
be one of the best holidays we ever had, but it was truly a memorable one. And once again, we couldn’t have made it
without the generosity of Mr Anonymous.
And we thank God for His blessings upon us as well.
