Hong Kong Adventure, Part 2

1st  April 2014

Day Two:

Arise and shine, it’s a brand new day.  Erwyn was alright after a good night rest.  Nevertheless, I brought medicine along with me in case the nasty virus attacked him again.  We grabbed some buns and stuff to eat at the hotel room.  Initially we thought we’re going to dine with Mickey and Minnie – which I was really looking forward to.  But turned out it was not part of the package deal.  Another thumbs down to the tour agency in Malaysia as the staff told me all breakfast are included.  Well, I’m not going to dig out the mails and argue with the tour agency.  So, forget about it and move on!

We waited at the bus stop for the free shuttle bus.  Though we arrived there pretty early, the crowd that came later than us did not bother about good manners.  When the bus arrived, they simply rushed into the bus with no sense of respect for others.  I was actually quite annoyed.

We board the bus and in no time Disneyland was right in front of our eyes.  At the Main Street of the Disneyland, there's already a long queue to take pictures with Mickey & Minnie. I know this is a MUST but I didn't want to waste time queuing to take pictures coz we have an early advantage on the other rides & shows. Elyse was keen to do so but we manage to persuade her.

At Tomorrowland, my girl was introduced to this ride "Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters" and we managed to do this a few times.  But I find the "Lost Kingdom Adventure" in Legoland which carries the similar concept much nicer.

Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters is where you can twist, turn and fire personal laser cannons in order to hit targets and gain points that will help Buzz Lightyear to protect the peace of outer space from the forces of the Emperor Zurg! (Information taken from http://www.hong-kong-travel.org)

There was this latest attraction at Disney - the Mystic Manor, an adventure going onboard the electric carriage to view the amazing collection of art and antiquities that came alive. I was looking forward as my sister highly commended this as The-Must-Do-Ride but it was temporary closed on that day!!!  What a disappointment…

The popular attraction at Fantasy land was the Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.  This ride will take you through the Hundred Acre Woods on a journey in search for the elusive honey pot.  You'll meet Pooh and the rest of the clan, tigger, Pigled, Eeyore, Kanga and Roo, Rabbit... After our first ride, Elyse and Erwyn were so attracted to this ride they kept asking us to sit again.  My children have never watched Winnie the Pooh before this trip.  Now whenever they see Winnie the Pooh, they remembered the ride and persuading us to bring them back to Disneyland.  I’m so happy that at least there’s one thing that Erwyn enjoyed.  He did not even want to sit Dumbo the Flying Elephant or carousel.

“It's a small, small world" - Another place where Erwyn came to live.  Most of the time he was lethargic and moody until we brought him for this boat ride.  He was so intrigued by the multi-coloured, bright and vivid small people.  However, it was quite boring for my darling girl.

A little hiccup as we came out from “It’s a small, small world”.  Strollers are parked outside the entrance and I left my umbrella in the pocket under the stroller.  After all, I have been carrying water bottles, medicine, milk, sweater, raincoats all these while.  I guess my muscle is developed via all these extra weights that I always have to carry with me.  We couldn’t find the umbrella after retrieving our stroller.  It was stolen!!!  Who on earth will steal an umbrella from a stroller knowing that it is meant for the kids!  How sad it is to realise the darkside of a human being.  Thank God I brought two umbrellas.  So, Elyse wore her raincoat since then while I carried the umbrella for Erwyn who refused to budge.

As it was raining, the much anticipated Disney Parade was cancelled.  Sigh…

We relaxed awhile to get over all the rushing here and there. Took the raft to Tarzan's treehouse.

We proceeded to Adventureland to watch the next must-see show, Festival of the Lion King at 4.15pm. This show is inspired by the Disney well-known Lion King’s tale and soundtracks that make used of splendid on-stage performances.  The Q-system was more chaotic here and there's no waiting lines. So we just crowded outside the entrance, and when the doors opened, everyone rushed in.

I love musical.  I always like musicals.  And Lion King is one of Elyse’s favourite shows.  Even Erwyn who was cranky most of the time enjoyed the musical.  The costume was so colourful, the voices were fantastic, the props were excellent – everything was close to perfection.  The only hitch was the two characters that spoke in Cantonese in between the musical.  I supposed they were there to explain the story to the non-English speaking crowd.

No picture was taken as it is not allowed.  This photo was downloaded from www.hong-kong-traveller.com

Most of the time, Elyse teamed up with hubby to go for the rides while I stayed with Erwyn at one of the benches to rest.  So, I might have missed out some of the rides they played.

We went to the Main Street before the fireworks display. The Sleeping Beauty castle looked soooo magical at night.  However, the fireworks display was delayed.  There was no reason or time given in the announcement.  We waited a little longer but finally decided to go back to our hotel lobby.  Children were exhausted and restless.  Although disappointed, I knew the children are my priority.

We waited at the lobby for quite awhile.  Looks like coming back earlier doesn’t benefit much either.  The only comfort was I get to sit down at the sofa.  Later we found out that the tour bus needed to wait for the others who stayed behind for the fireworks before picking us up.

The tour bus brought us to our next hotel which we’ll be staying for the next couple of days.  Checking in was a breeze.  Oh, how I love proficiency!  Erwyn was given another dose of paracetamol before he slept.  Poor baby.

End of Day Two.
