Since February, the sick bug has invaded the Lim Family. Everyone in the family takes turn to fall sick.
It started with Mummy having sore throat then running nose. She did not see doctor though, just drank lots and lots of water. At the same time, Ah Gong was not well also. He was down with flu but he is healthy again after a few days of rest.
Then, Mummy accidentally sprained her ankle while carrying me one morning. Her ankle was swollen but she felt that it was not necessary to see a doctor for such minor injury. It took her almost a month to recover fully. Poor Mummy, although she was wounded she had to cook, clean and took care of us all. But I was a good girl. I did not ask Mummy to carry me at all for that one whole month. Not until I caught the flu virus.
I have been a healthy girl for the past 9 months. Mummy and Daddy are so proud of me. This round, I was having fever, running nose and cough. Mummy and Ah Gong brought me to the doctor. I refused to take the medicine and Mummy managed to force it down my throat (with lots of struggles in between). I was typically lying on the bed for one and a half day, sleeping most of the time. As a result, I was absent from kindergarten for 4 days (that I'm happy).
Soon after that, Erwyn fell sick. Mummy said my virus was very strong. It 'jumped' over and made Erwyn sick. Naughty virus. It also attacked Aunty Audrey who was still with us then. This is the first time Erwyn falls sick. Initially he has no problem taking the medicine. But soon when he realised the awful taste of the medicine, he refused to drink them anymore. Mummy and Poh Poh had a hard time feeding him medicine. I think Erwyn learns that from me. heheee....
Just when we all thought it is over, I fell sick again. Sigh. I was coughing badly, both day and night. It distrubed my sleep and I kept waking up crying. Hence, Mummy and Daddy hardly have any good rest. Once again, I was brought to visit my pediatrician. He forbidded me from eating ice-cream, chocolate (my favourite!!!), and any cold drinks for 2 weeks.
Although I was sick, Mummy, Poh Poh, Erwyn and I went back to JB for 5 days. This was the first time Mummy drove back to JB by herself. We could not cancel the trip because Er Yi has booked the hotel room in Festive Hotel in Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore for 3 days 2 nights. Er Yi was very concerned of my cough and finally suggested to bring me to see her children's pediatrician at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Singapore for another check up. I was given 4 types of medicine to relief me from my cough. Cost: S$120.
When we came back from JB, my cough was getting better but Erwyn seemed to be getting a bit restless, fussy and irritable. He refused to drink milk and eat porridge. Shortly after that, he had fever. Daddy and Mummy brought him to see the doctor this time. Apparently he had 2 big ulcers in his mouth. Doctor suggested to give him ice cream, cold milk (not room temperature, but ice cold milk!) and cold mee sua. He was prescribed paracetamol to ease his pain.
By now, Daddy and Mummy were extremely exhausted. This "sick bug" does not seem to end, huh?!! Think this is the end of it? Sorry, you are wrong! Few days after that, I showed the same symptoms. For the first time in history, I told Mummy, "I have sore throat." But Mummy knows it better. I was given paracetamol. And ice cream becomes my main food.
Whose turn now? Back to Mummy again. All of the sudden, there were rashes all over Mummy's face, hands and legs. It was extremely itchy. After 'tahan-ing' for a week, finally Mummy consulted the dermatologist. The cream and the medicine are very effective although they are very costly. The bill is RM150 for consultation and medicine. However, we could not find out the root cause for this rashes. Is it environmental or food intake or... etc. After taking medicine for 2 days, Mummy stopped. But a week later, the rash came back. The risk remains unless and until we find out what is it that Mummy is allergic to.
The final round goes to Daddy, the tough guy and the head of the household. He, too, was sick for a few days due to the ulcers. But that 'bug' came from Erwyn, not me! hahaaa...
We pray that this is the end of the episode and all of us are healthy and strong again. Take care, everyone!

My First Hair Cut
Hello, everyone! I'm already 9 months old. As I grow older, my hair is also growing longer. But Daddy and Mummy said boy boy must be short hair, cannot have long long hair like Jie Jie.
So, Grandma gave me my first hair cut.
I do not sit still for Grandma to cut my hair. But no worries, Grandma is very skillful.
How do I look like with my new hair cut? Handsome?

Zoo Negara
Wow, what a sunny morning and I am so excited. Today Daddy is going to bring me to the zoo!!! Hurray!
This isn't my first trip to the zoo but Mummy said last year when she brought me to Singapore Zoo I fell asleep. Well, I don't recalled that at all though...
Erwyn is not coming along because he's not feeling well. Poor Erwyn. Don't worry, you can come with me next time, ok?
Since today is not a public holiday, there are not many people in the zoo.
Aunty Audrey, Mummy and I are waiting for Ah Gong and Daddy to buy the entrance ticket. Ah Gong and I only need to pay RM9 for the ticket, but Daddy and Mummy each cost about RM25 and Aunty Audrey is the most expensive - RM35, for she is not a Malaysian citizen.
"Let's go to the zoo, there are lots of things to do. And the food is finger licking good...."
Here we go....
Oh no, Mummy forgot to bring mosquitoe repellent. All of us are attacked by these vicious blood sucking monsters!!! Mummy seems to be their main target though. Within minutes, Mummy has more than 10 bites whereas we have 3/4 bites each.
Looks like today may not be a good day for Mummy. Mummy's sports shoe is also hurting her. She bought this new pair of shoes before she was pregnant with Erwyn. And now her feet has grown slightly bigger and the shoe does not fit her well anymore. So, Mummy bought a pair of slipper at one of the souvenir shops to replace her shoe.
We are now at the Children's World. There are tortoises, rabbits, goats and deer. I am allowed to pet them but I am hesitated to do so. Look at this pony right in front of me. He seems to be very friendly.
Oh oh oh, the Multi-Animal Show is about to begin. Let's go, let's go!
A test of my bravery! Look, I'm the youngest participant here oh... Aunty asked me to stretch out my arm and the parrot flew over and rested on my arm. I did not scream at all. But actually I was so scared I dare not to move a single bit.
The zoo is so big. We need to refer to the map to know our whereabout.
I'm tired of walking, so Daddy or Ah Gong or Mummy or Aunty Audrey pushed me as I sit in the stroller most of the time. hehee...
Out ticket includes the Insect Zoo and Butterly Garden. I don't like the Insect Zoo. There are spiders, scorpians and millipedes. They give me goose bumps. But the Butterfly Garden is very nice. There are so many butterflies all over. Sometimes they even rest on your head, or shoulder, or hand. I'm facinated by their colours. So pretty!
Finally, here are my favourite animals! The tiger, elephant and the giraffe. I get to see them real up close.
Aiya, it's drizzling. Looks like we gotta go. After all, all of us are exhausted. Run, run, run! Oh, see you another day, Zoo. Bye bye!

The life journey of a great woman
My mom in law (MIL) passed away on 5th February 2012 at 12:35am. She has been a faithful follower of Christ all her life. She has indeed fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept her faith till the end.
Koay Hock Tin, she was born on 9th October 1946 in Penang. She was a teacher by profession. She was the 3rd of five sisters.
The very first time I met my MIL was in 1999, soon after Andrew and I began our courtship. My first impression: she was a kind, friendly and gentle lady.
It was not until Andrew and I moved to KL I began to know her better. As soon as Andrew broke the news of him wanting to serve God fulltime to his parents, they counted it great joy for God's calling upon Andrew's life. We stayed with my parents in law for the next couple of years while Andrew persued his degree in Seminari Theology Malaysia.
As a retiree, both of my parents in law should be in their golden years in which they enjoyed life. Yet they gladly assisted us when their first grandchild, Elyse, was born. Elyse was very close to her grandma as a result. MIL pampered her a lot.
My MIL loved to cook. Some of her signature dishes were Lo Mai Gai, Otak-otak, Nasi Kunyit, to name a few. One should never underestimated her culinary skill. I was only 38kg when I moved into their house. Within a few months, my weight shoot up to 45kg, even my grandmom was impressed. For years everyone in my family had been trying to fatten me up but failed. My MIL has created a miracle in me!
She also enjoyed baking. Friends and church members could never resist her Cream Puff, Jam Tart (my personal favourite!!!) and many many more. Many people have requested to buy from her, but she turned them down. She did baking for leisure, not for profit.
She was very thrifty in terms of money. She did not pamper herself with spa, manicure, pedicure or facial. However, she gave generously to the poor, the needy and God's ministries.
My MIL extended her hand to those who need a listening ear. She would listen intently and advised those who came to her. She was a counsellor in the church and many have been ministered by her. The numbers of lives she touched was clearly evident in the number of people who attended her wake & funeral services.
She gladly opened up her house for home fellowship and bible study. Calling and visiting people, encouraging them to seek God - just to name some of the ministries she involved in.
One of her weakensses was worry. But that drove her to bend her knee in prayer. She prayed unceasingly for her children and her grandchildren. Her faith in God was unwavering.
MIL was indeed a virtuous wife as described in Proverbs 31:10-31.
Since 2010, my MIL has experienced chest pain. She notified her doctor when she went for her routine check up in UH, but was only given pain killer. However, she began to experience dizziness and nausea late August 2011. After much persuasion, my MIL went to Assunta for a thorough check up. There and then, she was diagnosed with 4th Stage Lung Cancer in September 2011.
Apparently the cancer cells have spread to the brain, thus causing her to suffer from dizziness and nausea. After the radiotherapy and with the help of the steroids, my MIL enjoyed her days with us as much as she could. By end of December, her condition worsen. She lost her eyesight and her speech became slurred. Very often, she was frustrated of not being able to convey her thoughts to us.
My MIL did not complain nor murmured throughout her battle with cancer. In fact, she was prepared to meet her Creator. She was more than willing to be called home.
We admitted her to UH on 3rd February evening as she was unable to consume any food for that whole day. The doctor prescribed morphine to ease her discomfort. And finally she bid farewell to us 2 days later. She passed away peacefully in her sleep. That ended her journey on earth, but began her new life in Christ in a better place.

Sweet Mouth
Case #01
Daddy was trying to put Elyse to nap in the afternoon. But this little girl was so awake, playing on the bed refusing to even close her eyes. Daddy was stern, but that did not help to calm the girl down at all. With a cheeky look on her face, she looked at her Daddy and said, "Daddy, I like your moustarch. I want to be a boy, so I can have moustarch just like you." Hahaa... that totally melted Daddy's heart and guess what? Elyse won. She did not need to take her usual afternoon nap that day.
Case #02
Daddy was putting Elyse to sleep that night. Then suddenly Elyse turned around and said, "Daddy, I like you the most. Everyday I see Mummy, I am bored with Mummy."

Arghh.... another outdated post. Sorry! Written it down but did not post it till now. This was supposed to be taken place in October last year.
MPH Subang Parade Book Fair is back!
MPH Subang Parade Book Fair is back!
One Sunday afternoon when we dropped by Subang Parade we were caught in surprised that there was a book fair organised by the MPH. There were so many people crowded at the east end concourse area, taking the advantage of book discounts up to 70%.
Mommy bought quite a number of books for me.
Currently, my favourite books are A Bug's Life and Barbie Little Golden Book.
A Bug's Life was bought from Pay Less Books in July at Subang Avenue. And Barbie was bought from Borders. I could spend hours (hehee... just exaggerating) reading these 2 books all by myself. I know the stories inside out. Mommy and Daddy even bought the movies for me to watch on TV!
Recently, I am also indulged in computer games. Hmm, a bit too young to start this addictive habit. Mommy is regretted for doing so. Hence, I am only allowed to play 2 times a day, 30 minutes for each session. I can control the mouse pretty well! :p

Breaking the news
This incident happened during the last CNY. Although I have written it down quite awhile ago, I did not get a chance to blog it. Oops, sorry for the silence...
Daddy was explaining to a relative on Ah Ma's condition while Elyse was playing with Mummy nearby.
Elyse: Mummy, why the medicine doesn't make Ah Ma better?
Mummy was shocked. Apparently the little girl has heard Daddy's conversation with the relative.
Pause for a few seconds. Thinking of how to explain to a 3-year-old.
Mummy: Because Ah Ma's body is not taking in the medicine. The body does not receive all the nutrient it needed.
Elyse: Then Ah Ma is going to die lor.
Mummy was shocked again.
Mummy: Then Ah Ma can go and see Jesus lor. You see, Ah Ma is so sick now. So painful. Isn't it better for Ah Ma to go to heaven and meet Jesus then to suffer like this?
Elyse nodded in agreement. That ended our conversation and she continued to play her toys. Mummy was relieved.
All these while we have been thinking how to explain to Elyse on Ah Ma's condition. And now Elyse is able to come to such conclusion. We certainly hope this would mentally prepare our little girl to face unforeseen circumstances.
